The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 《兹山鱼谱》
韩国真是狂热的基督教国家啊，开头部分引起不适，后半段还算理智点。
这更是一部传记电影吧，关注点也因此而有点失焦，但还是挺浪漫的。
长大了才知道怀有好奇心的成年人竟是少数。小时候学的那些郁郁不得志或者隐居的文人故事如今也感同身受...
各有所长，互为师长。壮阔的景象，潮水的声音，鲜活的生命。落脚到，我可以怎么活。好电影。
流放海岛，与民同乐，品尝海味，教化生民。像极了我们的东坡先生还有好多好多的迁客骚人。
“益纵饮，与鱼蛮鸟夷为俦侣，不复以骄贵相加。”丁若镛如此描述兄长到了黑山之后的生活，就这一句，联想到“上可以陪玉皇大帝，下可以陪卑田院乞儿”的东坡先生;从志趣上实在太像，这部片子也将成为我今年看过的最好的东方式古典韵味。
一开始以为是传教片，差点儿劝退，还好坚持到了黑山岛（开头的背景交代真的太长了，其实几句话就可以说清楚），马上被这里的纯朴温暖捕获。不敢说完全理解了这部片子，但一个西学东渐过程中的牺牲者、一个见惯权力斗争和名利场的流放官员、一个能够以俯视地球高度来看世界的人，为什么将自己原本消失的好奇之心倾注到了一本鱼谱和一本别人的历险记里，还算感悟良多。
读书明理究竟好不好？如果只是把读书当做人生进阶的手段好不好？如果读那么多书却换来看到世界更真实的残忍还要不要读？——读书，认识这个世界，了解世界上的人以及人性，在通晓了真相以后再内心积极的活下去是件很艰难的事，但是倘若你不读书又怎能有机会去翻开这个世界的书页。
田心，黑山《经世遗表》，学习一下？
士人总把自然当成归隐之地，但多数情况下，自然只是充当他们坐卧时背后的一扇清新盎然的屏风而已。“自然”的类型里，山林田园是惬意的意象，而海岛是孤寂贫瘠，更能磨练人，更能给影片故事的展开提供突兀写实的舞台。此外，天主教在朱子学糜烂的传统社会里开了一道口时，渔夫从宦，士人寓海，二人在什么才是牧民救世之道的问题上产生冲突，这样的故事本来就很有挖掘空间。人生海海，不论是大海还是宦海。
《兹山鱼谱》
假如当世界变成黑白纠缠不清的样子，唯有信仰和知识可以成为改变这种现状的一只蓝色的小鸟
在能回想起来的近一年时间以来，触动最为深刻的电影。虽然对李朝几乎完全没有了解，但东亚的历史何其相似，加上故事也讲得很清晰，再者最近正听到明代部分的政治文化史……老夫子急流勇退去格鱼，放弃打鱼的贱民还要往哪里去呢
特别喜欢吃鱼的部分。黑白片确实有水墨调，工整但不匠气。丁若铨不侍君王，不奉天主，无论东西，只吸纳道义和学识，士大夫所论出世与入世，放到他师徒二人身上，出身不同导致分道扬镳，节气相近才有殊途同归。最后讲“活成飞升之鹤虽不坏，但即便满身泥泞，也可像兹山一样，外表黯淡却生机勃勃” 基本也是出淤泥而不染，“心中万不可蒙尘”。
柳承龙的大胡子造型就是我心目中苏东坡的样子，同样都是被流放的大儒，中国怎么就拍不出来这样的电影呢？
儒学反思拍得真好，只是后半段显得过于意料之中了，也许是师徒的一种循环吧。看了热评第一条更加感慨，自己拍不出好东西却依然留着莫名的自大。
算是不错的韩国历史片了，虽然仍有流水账的嫌疑
